Prince Edward County council will hear from the Chief of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte at its meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
Chief R. Don Maracle will ask council to allow Forester’s Island to become part of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
The small island, located just south of Deseronto in Mohawk Bay, is now under the jurisdiction of Prince Edward County.
Forester’s Island has a long history involving the Mohawks and some of that can be seen below in Chief Maracle’s letter to County Council.
