Despite some challenges with flooding in 2019 and the pandemic in 2020, Belleville city staff are calling the two-year pilot project for Pop-Ups by the Bay a great success.
A report to council on Monday will outline both pop-up seasons and give some ideas on how to improve the initiative moving forward, with lots of positive feedback coming from residents, visitors and the businesses involved.
The report says that the project will come in under its two-year budget of $150,000 and that the initiative brought an estimated $250,000 in revenue to the city, while creating 15 seasonal jobs.
It also notes considerable interest in expanding the program for 2021, with staff expected to look for more funding for the project during upcoming budget discussions.
