Quinte Health Care has named a new Chief Executive Officer.
Stacey Daub joins QHC from North York General Hospital, with experience at Headwater Health Care in Orangeville as well.
Daub told an online news conference Wednesday she’s looking forward to continuing to strengthen the connection between QHC hospitals and the community.
“They are one interrelated system, whether it’s from an economics perspective, or a wellness perspective. Quinte is a community where I really think the commitment across the communities, whether it’s Prince Edward County, North Hastings, Belleville or Trenton, it is clear there is a deep commitment to the local hospitals.”
Daub added that she and her family spent the summer safely exploring the Quinte region and she’s excited to join not only the QHC team, but the community as well and says she’s ready to get to work in making sure that QHC’s four hospitals get what they need moving forward.
“The issue often with the medium, rural and hospitals like Quinte is we have to do a good job at educating. We have to educate local MPPs and the ministry and we have to actually come forward with solutions on how to think about the future. I think I’ve been able to do that in both of the regions I’ve been in, so I feel really confident.”
In his introduction of Daub on Wednesday, QHC Board Chair David MacKinnon touted not only her broad resume of experience, but her personal qualities as well.
“I realized that she’s a person whose personal style is marked by grace, humility and quite remarkable qualities of leadership. You don’t always hire someone for their skills and background, however remarkable they are, but personal qualities matter.”
MacKinnon also thanked outgoing CEO Mary Clare Egberts, who he says “served with distinction” over her decade or so on the job.
Daub will take the job effective January 4, 2021.
