A significant number of students with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board are learning online at home these days.
In a report to the school board, staff say enrolment in what’s called a virtual school is almost 1,800 students from kindergarten to grade 12, or about 16% of the total number of students under the board’s jurisdiction.
Classes are a mixture of “teacher led” and flexible online learning.
About 100 teachers, including Early Education and support instructors are involved in the virtual school.
