It was not the move-in day one family expected.
Firefighters from Quinte West Station 7 were called to a home on Rosewood Avenue north of Frankford around 3:15 Monday afternoon for a basement fire.
Crews were able to make quick work of the blaze which was started when one of the young children began playing with matches and caught a mattress on fire which then spread to the drywall.
Fire Chief John Whelan says the fire has been ruled accidental in nature and caused about $10,000 in damages.
