An investigation is underway into what police are calling a suspicious structure fire in Alnwick-Haldimand Township Thursday afternoon.
Flames broke out in a home on Dunnette Landing Road, just south of Rice Lake, around 3:15 p.m., with Alnwick-Haldimand firefighters on scene when Northumberland OPP arrived.
Authorities say two people escaped the fire and one of them was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been contacted and the Northumberland OPP Major Crime Unit is continuing to look into the cause of the blaze.
