The mayor of Belleville sees a lot of good things in yesterday’s (Wednesday’s) Throne Speech, but warns concrete plans and action need to happen quickly.
Mitch Panciuk says the speech’s renewed focus on keeping the economy liquid during a likely second wave of COVID-19 is a good thing and especially liked the promise of extra help for the hospitality, tourism, and performing arts sectors.
Panciuk also agreed with the government’s plans to provide more infrastructure funding, particularly for public and active transit, and affordable housing.
The mayor also applauds the federal government’s pledge to give more power to municipalities to control firearms and expand parks and green space.
