Builders have put the final touches on a four-unit Habitat for Humanity project in Quinte West.
A dedication ceremony was held this week for the four families who are moving into their new homes, after 18 months of work to get the project done, even with COVID-19 restrictions in effect.
The site had to be shut down in March because of the pandemic, but Geertsma Construction came to the rescue and was able to get the work done on the two semi-detached homes on Leopold and Hannah Street, in time for the families to move in before the cooler weather hits.
Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings Executive Director Glenn May-Anderson is also thanking the City of Quinte West for donating the land for those homes and waiving development charges, noting the city’s commitment to continuing to provide safe and decent housing.
