A Belleville woman has won an Emmy Award for her work on the History Channel show “Vikings”.
Visual Effects Supervisor Leann Harvey and her crew won the Emmy for Outstanding Visual Effects In A Supporting Role earlier this week.
She shared her reaction to the win on CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker Show Friday morning and says she’s thrilled to earn the honour, but was trying to temper her expectations before the winner was announced.
“There’s nothing worse than thinking you’re going to win and then you lose. So you kind of convince yourself you’re going to lose, just because it’s easier that way. I had my whole family talking to me saying I was going to win and I just thought man, are they going to be disappointed when I lose.”
While Harvey will get a trophy of her own, she made sure to point out that the win was a complete team effort and credited the rest of the crew and cast for their work on the show.
“It was one of those difficult shows that didn’t feel difficult because of the people that surrounded me and supported me. Right from the crew on set in Ireland, to everyone back in Toronto. I’ve been a fan of the show since before I started on it so it was even more meaningful. I’m shaking, I’m still excited.”
The Prime Time Emmy Awards will be handed out during a virtual awards ceremony on Sunday.
