With summer barely in the rear view mirror, the city of Belleville is looking forward to the holiday season farther down the calendar.
The city has announced it will be looking for trees for the annual Festival of Lights.
Staff will remove select spruce trees that owners want removed from local properties, to place in strategic locations throughout the city during the upcoming holiday season.
The announcement says that businesses or residents who have a 24 foot or higher spruce tree can notify the city and it will be removed at no cost to the owner.
The lighted trees will be placed at strategic locations throughout the city during the holiday season.
Residents may call the city parks department if they are interested in donating a tree.
After the holiday, the trees are chipped and used as mulch in the ongoing park program.
