The COVID-19 pandemic has caused some revenue problems in some of the City of Quinte West’s departments.
While Quinte West staff say that overall the city’s budget is on track after the first seven months of the year there’s been a noticeable drop in revenues for the marina, garbage and recycling, and on some financial charges such as interest revenue and interest on taxes.
With the season not yet over, the Trent Port Marina has lost about $131,000, over the $125,000 budgeted for while garbage and recycling costs might end up half a million dollars over budget due to extra garbage being generated as people stayed home more during the pandemic.
