The Belleville Police Service responded to 80 calls for service from August 25, 2020 at 5 a.m. to August 26, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Obstruct/Breach of Court Order
On August 25, 2020 shortly after 10 a.m., city police received a call regarding a disturbance in the parking lot of an east end establishment. The disturbance appeared to involve a male and female. Both parties entered a vehicle and left before police arrived. The vehicle was located a short time later. After a lengthy investigation, in which false names were provided, it was learned that the two occupants were currently on Court Ordered Conditions from Quebec. Subsequently a 20-year-old male from Quebec and 22-year-old female, also of Quebec were taken into custody. They were held in custody and will appear at the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on August 26, 2020.
Disturbance / Breach of Probation
On August 25, 2020 at approximately 6 p.m., city police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the eastern part of the city. It was reported that there was a male on the residential property causing a disturbance. When officers arrived on scene they observed a male who was very intoxicated. Officers took the male into custody for being intoxicated in public. During the investigation it was learned that the male party was found to be on two separate Probation Orders.
Subsequently the male was found to be breaching three conditions set forth by the Probation Orders. As a result, 35-year-old Matthew Scero of Belleville was charged with three counts of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and is scheduled to appear at the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on September 17, 2020 to answer to his charges.
Assault
On August 25, 2020 at approximately 4:25 p.m., city police received a call regarding an intoxicated male who entered a west end establishment and assaulted an employee. Officers arrived on scene and arrested a 52-year-old Belleville man for assault. He was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on September 17, 2020 to an answer his charge.
Impaired driver
On August 26, 2020 at approximately 12:15 a.m., city police stopped a motor vehicle in the Donald and North Park St. area. Officers quickly determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. As a result, Jennifer Kearley, 35 of Belleville was charged with operation while impaired and operating a vehicle with more than 80mgs after failed breath tests. Kearley will appear in the Belleville Ontario Court of Justice on September 17, 2020. Her vehicle was also impounded for seven days, and her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
