The medium security prison in Warkworth is in lockdown.
Warkworth Institution officials say a lockdown was put in place Saturday morning after an already opened contraband package was found on the prison’s property.
Officials believe the package was dropped from an Unmanned Air Vehicle.
An Exceptional Search is being carried out and all visitation has been cancelled for the time being.
