Charges have been laid in Belleville, after a break-in in progress was caught by an alert neighbour.
Around 3:00 p.m. Monday, a person was checking on a Victoria Avenue home, when they noticed an open door.
A neighbour helped the person watching the home, while they called city police.
A suspect was caught trying to leave the house through a basement window.
Thirty-four-year old Michael Bird was charged with break and enter with intent, mischief under $5,000, possession of break-in tools, two counts of breach of probation, and possession of heroin.
He has a September 3 court date.
