Electronic attendance at council meetings post-pandemic was one of the topics of conversation at Monday’s City of Quinte West council meeting.
The suggested amendment to the bill was to continue to allow councillors to attend council meetings virtually, even after in-person council meetings resume.
Some councillors argued that in-person council meetings offer transparency that virtual meetings don’t. Others said virtual attendance makes it easier to attend when scheduling is difficult and ensures their own safety as restrictions are lifted.
The decision was made after discussion to approve the changes and to allow electronic council meeting participation without a state of emergency.
