Building continues to be slow around the region throughout the pandemic, with Belleville and Brighton both announcing a reduced number of permits issued last month, compared to July 2019.
In Belleville, 79 permits were issued in July with a construction value of just under $13 million, compared to 93 permits in the same month last year, with a construction value of closer to $24 million.
Twenty-one of the permits issued last month were for new residential builds and to date, the city has issued 402 permits with a construction value of about $56.6 million.
Meanwhile in Brighton, just two building permits were issued last month.
