The Belleville Police Service responded to calls 50 for service from August 2, 2020 at 5 a.m. to August 3, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Woman assaulted
On August 2, 2020 at 3:55 p.m., police responded to an assault call at a city group home. On arrival, officers were advised that a 21-year-old resident had assaulted a staff member by throwing hot tea on her and threatening to use a weapon. The female suspect was arrested, and she was brought to the Belleville Police Service where she was later charged with assault and released with a September 24 court date. Her name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
Breaching conditions
On August 2, 2020, at 2:55 p.m., police received a complaint that a male was communicating with a female contrary to the conditions of his probation stemming from several domestic related charges. Police were familiar with the male as he was charged for the same offence on July 8, 2020. Police attended the residence, and located the male and female together. The male suspect, a 35-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with four counts of breaching his probation. He was held for a bail hearing on August 3, 2020.
Man calls police on himself
On August 2, 2020, at 7:40 p.m., police received a call to a west end address by a man who said his landlord had locked him out of his residence. On arrival, officers learned that the man was illegally staying in the apartment, and the locks were changed to prevent him from returning. The man identified himself as 41-year-old Joseph Stacey of Belleville. Police learned that Stacey had a warrant for breach of probation. He was arrested and later released with a court date of September 24.
