Motor Vehicle Collision results in Impaired Driving Charge
On July 27, 2020 at 9:00 p.m., police responded to the east end of the city regarding a two-vehicle collision. It was reported that the suspect vehicle struck a parked vehicle and continued on to a residence where police located the suspect vehicle. Police conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of a 56-year-old Belleville man, Darko Zeljkovic, for impaired driving. There were no injuries reported although one of the vehicles sustained significant damage. Mr. Zeljkovic was charged with Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs, and was released on an Undertaking where he was given a court date of August 27 to face the charges.
Disturbance Results in Charges
On July 27, 2020 at 8:00 p.m., police responded to the area of Cannifton Road regarding a disturbance involving threats. Police attended the area and an investigation ensued revealing that a 32-year-old Belleville male suspect had been threatening people and assaulted a victim. Police located the male suspect who was subsequently arrested and charged with Assault, Uttering Threats, Weapons Dangerous and Breach of Probation. The male was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for bail.
