Bay of Quinte riding MPP and cabinet minister Todd Smith brought some good news along with some cash for the three communities in his riding today (Tuesday).
The provincial government announced a total of $53,572 for business-oriented programs from the Rural Economic Development Fund.
The City of Belleville will receive a little over $30,000 to install free public WiFi in the downtown district. As part of the installation, data will be collected for one year on where visitors to the downtown are coming from and what they’re interested in.
The system should be completely finished by June of next year.
Quinte West gets $13,000 to pay for a Business Retention and Expansion study which will guide council on future policies regarding the local economy.
And Prince Edward County will benefit from just over $10,000 which will pay for an eight-part training series for food producers in the county.
The training will help them promote and sell their products, not only locally, but outside the area as well.
