A man charged with arson in connection with an incident at a home on Bridge Street East in Belleville last weekend will be back in court on Friday.
The 36-year-old made a brief appearance in court on Wednesday and had his case pushed forward.
Prior to his appearance, police had added a charge of indignity to a human body, but did not release any other details on what happened.
The initial police report says emergency crews responded to the scene at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, where a passerby had put out a suspicious fire, before calling the incident in.
Investigators found a 72-year-old Belleville man dead at the scene and arrested the suspect, whose name is not being released, to protect the identity of the victim.
