An elderly man is in Kingston General Hospital with life-threatening injuries after a serious two vehicle collision at the intersection of Old Highway 2 and Mitchell Road in east end Belleville yesterday (Monday) morning.
Belleville police, firefighters, and Hastings-Quinte paramedics responded around 10 o’clock after the collision between a small car and a large courier delivery truck.
Police say it appears the elderly man pulled out of Mitchell Road and may not have stopped at the stop sign and then was hit by the mail truck.
The man was not wearing a seat belt. The two men in the delivery truck were not injured.
Alcohol and speed were not factors in the collision.
Old Highway 2 was closed for about six hours for an investigation.
