A former player and head coach of the Belleville Bulls has been named the inaugural recipient of the OHL’s “Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award”.
Forty-four-year-old James Boyd has just completed his third year as GM of the Ottawa 67s. He helped build a team that has finished first in the OHL’s regular season standings two years in a row.
Ottawa’s record at the time the league was suspended was 50-11-0-1 and included a franchise record 17 game winning streak.
Boyd played for Belleville for two seasons in the mid ’90s then joined the Bulls coaching staff as an assistant coach in 1999.
After four years Boyd was named the Head Coach in 2003. He would be the last head coach in the Dr. Bob Vaughan ownership era.
