The City of Quinte West is reopening some public outdoor spaces as of Thursday (May 21) and Friday (May 22).
Amenities to reopen include the Hanna Park fenced dog area, skate parks, soccer fields (not for team sports), covered picnic areas, municipal boat launch docks (with the exception of Centennial Park due to water levels) and basketball courts (not for team sports).
Mayor Jim Harrison says it is important to remember to maintain physical distancing practices and to enjoy the easing of the restrictions with healthy caution and respect for those around us.
To ensure that all residents have safe access to outdoor areas, the city urges citizens to maintain a distance of two metres from anyone outside of their household, wash their hands frequently, and stay home if feeling unwell. At this time it is NOT permitted to use these facilities for team sports.
Playgrounds, play structures, fitness equipment, baseball diamonds, splash pads and the Frankford Tourist Park remain closed at this time.
