In a move that has been expected for some time the American Hockey League has officially cancelled the rest of its 2019-2020 season.
The season was put on hold March 12th but it was becoming obvious the 31 team league, including the Belleville Senators were not going to be able to resume operations, particularly with no fans in the stands. Most of the league revenue comes from ticket sales.
While the move was expected by the Board of Governors it doesn’t make it any less disappointing for B-Sens coach Troy Mann.
The B-Sens were one of the youngest teams in the AHL this season and because of that Mann doesn’t expect a big turnover in the roster for next year.
The AHL’s standings – sorted by points percentage – and statistics as of March 12, 2020, are considered final and official, and will serve as the basis for determining league awards for the 2019-20 season.
The Belleville Senators finish first in the North Division. Third in the Eastern Conference and 6th overall in the 31 team league.
