Businesses in Downtown Belleville are going online to try and generate some revenue during the COVID-19 crisis.
The Belleville Downtown District has launched the Downtown District Marketplace, a special website allowing business owners to create their own virtual shops to sell their products and services.
The site gives access to inventory from 25 downtown retailers and restaurants, who are offering pick-up or delivery options, for the various goods and services they sell.
Executive Director Marijo Currier calls the e-marketplace a “game changer for main street businesses who don’t have the capabilities or experience to sell online”.
The project is also being shown off to other business improvement areas in the province and could see Belleville at the forefront of that initiative taking off Ontario-wide.
