Many sports and racing leagues around the world have either cancelled or postponed events due to COVID-19 and the local track is no different.
Brighton Speedway officials announced Wednesday that the opening of the 2020 racing season will be postponed.
Track prep and venue maintenance is still expected to begin this month, but promoter and owner Mark Rinaldi says there’s no set date for when the season will start.
Drivers are being encouraged to keep getting their cars ready and Rinaldi says updates on season passes and scheduling changes will be announced on the track website as that information becomes available.
Rinaldi is asking all fans to “stay home and do your part to minimize the spread of the virus, so we can get back to racing”.
