The Chief of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte says he does not know what good blocking the CN rail line will do.
R Don Maracle spoke to Quinte News Monday morning about the blockade, which began late last week.
The blockade is to show support to those protesting a natural gas line in British Columbia. There are dozens of First Nations and their supporters against the line, while there are many First Nations communities in favour of the line and the economic benefits for the communities.
When asked about whether or not the band council supports the blockade, Maracle said it is not sanctioned.
Maracle added it is a police matter and they do not comment on matters involving law enforcement.
The rail line at Wyman Road is in Tyendinaga Township.
The protestors have set up a snow plow feet away from the three track lines. One individual told Quinte News if a train tries to get through they will put it on the tracks.
Each day thousands of people and billions of dollars in freight go through the Quinte region on the CN line.
CN has received an injunction from the courts, but the protest continues as of Monday afternoon.
