A Belleville police officer has been nominated for the Police Association of Ontario Hero of the Year Awards.
Constable Erin McAdam was nominated Tuesday by a resident.
She is described as compassionate and very good at dealing with people with mental health issues, as well as troubled youth.
The nominator also describes Constable McAdam as being authoritative and able to take control of chaotic situations.
Also nominated is Special Constable Mark Chapelle of the Belleville Police Service.
He is described as kind, respectful, open minded and genuine as he dealt with a custody exchange.
The nominator also said Chapelle was able to calm their nerves and made them feel less alone.
Nominations for Police Hero of the Year are open until March 13 and winners will be chosen by the Police Association of Ontario.
