Belleville’s Economic and Destination Development Committee received an update on the work of two programs aimed at getting people into business or just back to work.
Luc Fournier of the Small Business Centre told the committee on Thursday the centre helped a total of 51 start-up companies last year.
Fournier said the centre also held 30 workshops, all free of charge.
Mike Hewitt outlined the work of the Elevate Plus program which trains workers for immediate jobs in the manufacturing sector.
Hewitt said 19 manufacturing companies are partners in the program.
For the first time, the next six-week course will be for military families.
