There’s a feel good story out of Centre Hastings this morning where a Central Hastings OPP Officer came to the aid of an injured bird.
Police were called to Lahey Road in Madoc where a Barred Owl, which is native to the region, was found injured on the road.
It’s believed the owl was eating its early morning prey on the roadway when it was hit by a passing vehicle.
A responding officer used his OPP raincoat to cover the bird and check the severity of its injuries.
Police then contacted the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre in Napanee, with staff there now helping in rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
