The City of Belleville is trying to answer some of the questions surrounding where the money goes that the city gets for hosting the Shorelines Casino.
The OLG announced its third quarter payment of non-tax gaming revenue for the 2019/20 fiscal year this week, which has brought the city’s total since the casino opened in 2017, to more than $9 million.
According to a funding schedule posted by city officials, just over $8 million of that has been spent on various projects dating back to the 2018 budget.
In 2020 alone, the city is planning to use more than $2.9 million for projects like the widening of Bell Boulevard, purchasing a new Zamboni for the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, some flood prevention measures and more.
