Belleville police have arrested a city man after a two and a half hour standoff at an east end residence last night (Sunday).
Police say they were called to a disturbance around 10:30 involving a man wanted for breaching probation and theft.
Upon arrival a female left the residence but the man barricaded himself inside.
There were reports there was a firearm in the residence so police cordoned an area off and called in the emergency response and crisis negotiation teams.
After being seen numerous times during the standoff officers managed to arrest the man using a taser.
The 25-year-old is in custody and appears in court today. He was charged with theft, six counts of breaching probation, breach of undertaking and possession of a controlled substance.
Police did not locate any weapons at the residence.
