The latest reports indicate possibly a “mild” flu season coming up in the Hastings-Quinte area.
Program Manager Bill Sherlock told the Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health on Wednesday that so far it looks like it won’t be “severe.”
Regarding flu shot clinics, now underway, Sherlock said it’s the “65 and over group we really want vaccinated.”
He indicated the immune system gets “compromised” around that age and often there are other health issues.
Indications are that, after a flu shot, a person is 50% less likely to get influenza.
