Belleville paid tribute on Monday to the Belleville Bulldogs Under 15 Girls Rugby team – the Ontario champions 2019.
The team members packed the city council chambers as Mayor Mitch Panciuk presented certificates to each of them and spoke of their “winning ways” over the season.
“The All-Ontario…one of the best sides in 40 years, winning Rugby Toronto then All Ontario,” Panciuk said.
Statistics show they out-scored 107 to 10 over three games.
Panciuk added, “In Toronto on Sunday, they captured the silver medal at the Ontario 7s.
Panciuk added, “Hats off.”
He thanked the team members and the coaches for bringing “honour to the city.”
