Peterborough County OPP are continuing to investigate a fatal collision on Hwy. 7 that closed the major road overnight.
Police say the collision at Norwood occurred just after 8 p.m. when a westbound vehicle left the road then crossed into oncoming traffic and hit an oncoming vehicle causing both to catch fire.
The driver of the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the eastbound vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted.
Police will release the victim’s name once the examination is complete.
The highway was closed until 6 a.m. this morning to allow Collision Reconstructionists to document the scene.
The cause remains under investigation.
