The job loss numbers have been released for the month of August.
In the Kingston to Pembroke economic region, which Quinte area is a part of, the unemployment rate was 6% last month.
This is up from 5.1% in July.
Canada’s economy posted a job surge last month of 81,100 new positions, the bulk of which were part-time.
Statistics Canada said the national August unemployment rate stayed at 5.7%.
The increase in job creation is the biggest since Canada added 106,500 jobs in April.
