A subdivision plan on Belleville’s west side is on its way to city council, looking for approval.
Tuesday night the Planning Advisory Committee approved the first part of the process for a proposal for a subdivision with 39 townhouses at Sand Cherry Court, east from Palmer Road.
Consultant Marko Cekic told the committee the planned housing complements housing styes in the area and supports the city’s “infilling” plans.
Councillor Sean Kelly questoned whether or not the city could “put faith in this developer” since other proposals in the last number of years have not proceeded.
Cekic replied, “I think you can put faith in the new owner. The new owner is eager to move ahead.”
Some residents in the area expressed concerns about increased traffic and Planning Chair Paul Carr tells Quinte News staff will have a look at that.
Both the housing proposal and a plan for nine lots for commercial and/or industrial development on the north side of Bell Boulevard have gone forward for staff and public input.
Pentacostal church
Plans to provide hotel style units on the second floor of the Pentacostal Church on Dundas Street West are also being sent forward for further study.
They would be used for travelling clergy or people the church is sponsoring.
A staff report indicated there is “lots of parking” at the site.
