At the beginning of 2019 Mayor Mitch Panciuk emphasized he was keen on seeing the Belleville fairgrounds moved to a new site, and those negotiations continue.
The Fairgrounds Property Use Committee has been in motion for a few years.
Mayor Panciuk tells Quinte News the committee continues to meet, and he says negotiations with the Agricultural Society continue to make progress.
He looks forwards to a possible major step in a couple of years.
Panciuk points out that these things are complicated, and in his words, “you can’t jump the process, the committee is making good progress.”
A long term plan would see the Belleville Agricultural Society and the Quinte Exhibition move from the city’s fairgrounds to another site.
The property virtually sits dormant except for when the Quinte Ex is on, and for occasional smaller events.
