A 66-year-old inmate at Warkworth Institution has died while in custody.
A release from Assistant Warden Dave Stephens states Bernard King appears to have died from natural causes on August 16.
King had been in custody since July 2005. He was serving an indeterminate sentence for sexual assault, uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm and robbery.
Meanwhile, officials at Millhaven Institution are also reporting the death of an inmate in custody.
Assistant Warden Vicki Liscumb says 74-year-old Malcolm Latoskie died of apparent natural causes, following an illness.
He had been serving an indeterminate sentence since January of 1974, for second degree murder and assault.
As it does in all cases of an inmate dying in custody, the Correctional Service of Canada is investigating both cases and the police have been notified.
