Lennox and Addington OPP are launching a new traffic initiative today, along with other Eastern Ontario police detachments.
This new initiative will focus on commercial motor vehicle safety and officers will be patrolling Highway 401 and Highway 7 looking for violations in driving behaviours as well as equipment and hours of work and reporting regulations.
General Patrol and Highway Safety Division officers who have received training in the enforcement of commercial vehicle regulations as well as officers with training as Drug Recognition Experts and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing will be participating in this initiative.
L&A County Detachment Commander, Inspector Scott Semple says every motorist has an important part to play in making Ontario roadways as safe as they can be.
