A local rural municipality could be getting some big city internet.
At this week’s municipal meeting, Tyendinaga Township council heard from Cogeco, about installing fibre optic cable.
Clerk Brad Roach tells Quinte News the internet provider discussed leaving broadband, and switching over the municipality and Hastings County.
Roach says the company believes upper tier government money could be available to help with the project’s infrastructure.
He adds that if there are multiple companies looking to provide coverage, a bidding process would likely need to take place.
A new meeting between the two is not expected until 2020.
