People with mobility issues will now be able to enjoy the sun and the sand thanks to a local charity.
The Wheelchair of Hope Foundation unveiled a new Mobi-Mat at North Beach in Prince Edward County on Thursday.
The mat stretches from the road almost down to the water and allows people who use mobility assisting devices like wheelchairs, scooters, or walkers, to be able to access the water.
The mat also allows parents pushing strollers to get closer to the water.
Without it, they would be stuck on the wrong side of the sand, unable to move around the beach itself.
Wheelchair of Hope Founder John Cairns says the mat installation was a collaborative effort between Ontario Parks, the foundation and other local partners, and is thanking everyone involved in the process for making it possible.
