Quinte West OPP say they’ll be conducting focused patrols on two areas that are affecting public safety in the city.
Officers will be focusing patrols on local retail outlets in an effort to prevent shoplifting by visiting city businesses and watching for people who have already been issued trespass orders, in connection with previous incidents.
The detachment is also putting a closer watch on the “Big 4” traffic violations and say drivers can expect a heavy presence along Loyalist Parkway, between Dufferin Avenue and County Road 64.
Police say that area experiences a significant jump in traffic because of the summer tourist season, so drivers are reminded to obey the speed limit, pay attention to the road and of course, drive sober.
