Members of the public will get a look this week at the future of sewage services in Belleville over the next 20 years, including the sewage treatment plant in the Foster Ward area.
The city is undertaking a wastewater servicing master plan that includes the city’s sewage collection system, the treatment plant and all the pumping stations.
It looks at the next 20 years.
Manager of Engineering Ray Ford tells Quinte News the plan deals with odour issues from the sewage treatment plant in Foster Ward that many residents have complained about.
He says the plan includes a number of changes.
Ford continued, “What this study is doing is looking at what the city needs to be planning and building over the next 20 years to address the deteriorating condition of the system to allow development to continue and to make sure we can stay in compliance with the Ministry of Environment’s regulations. We’re looking at expansion and changes at the wastewater plant. We’re looking at expansion and changes at some of the pumping stations, we’re looking at upgrading some of our sewer systems in roads.”
The public information centre is being held Thursday evening, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Banquet Centre at Alhambra Square.
