A technology company based out of Prince Edward County is hoping a $500,000 contract will help it to expand across the country and even internationally.
Screaming Power Inc CEO Gary Michor says this contract will allow them to grow their company.
The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon at The Grange Winery.
Screaming Power collects data regarding energy management and greenhouse gas emissions and uses this data to save large organizations time and money.
The contract will see the company help manage energy costs for buildings owned and leased by the Department of Public Works and Government Services across Ontario.
This will manage costs for taxpayers, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create high-skilled local jobs.
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis says this contract shows the jobs of tomorrow can be found in the Bay of Quinte.
The contract was awarded through the Built in Canada Innovation Program which awards federal contracts to new Canadian technology start-ups in an effort to stimulate innovation and strengthen the country’s middle class.
Michor says they currently have seven employees and are based out of the Innovation Center in Picton and he hopes to triple the number of employees by 2022.
Their Mobile Building Energy Management and Green House Gas Solution is a cloud-based mobile app that digitizes siloed information to allow building owners, management and operations to work together to monitor, manage and reduce building energy costs.
