The construction industry is seeing a significant uptick in Belleville.
The city released its June building stats, and for the year so far, the construction value has jumped to $62.3 million, almost double over the same six month period last year.
The city issued 71 permits last month and 23 of those were in the commercial building category for a total of $23.5 million.
Acting CAO Rod Bovay says one of the reasons the city is seeing such an increase in construction values is thanks to Hexo and he expects this trend to continue.
Bovay says this doesn’t include Costco permits as of yet either.
There was $27.9 million in construction value last month in the city, compared to $5.9 million in 2018.
