Council in Prince Edward County will hear a presentation about converting the Rotary Room at the Wellington District Community Centre into a gym.
The presentation by Randy Uens, the Vice President of Hockey and Business Operations for the Wellington Dukes asks council to convert the room into a multi-use gym facility that will not only meet the needs of the Dukes players, but community members too.
Uens’ proposal states the Jr. A hockey club will finance the outfitting of the gym, an estimated $60,000, and would also assume responsibility for the gym and costs associated with running the facility.
The facility would include traditional weights, a circuit training area and a cardio suite of equipment.
Memberships would be offered in the range of $30-$45 and a key fob system would be put in place to ensure members only used the facility.
The proposal states Prince Edward County would provide water, heat and hydro at no charge to the facility.
The municipality would be included in a cross liability clause.
Council meets at 1 p.m. in Shire Hall.
