An event that has become a summer entertainment staple in the Quinte Region for the past 13 years will not happen in 2019.
Organizers of the Empire Rockfest in Downtown Belleville say the three-day concert series, which has featured names like Slash, Arkells, Glorious Sons, Stone Temple Pilots and many more, will be taking the year off.
In a video posted to the Empire Theatre’s Facebook page Owner Mark Rashotte says, despite months of hard work, they weren’t able to nail down a line up that lived up to the standards and expectations of Rockfest fans and organizers alike.
He added that the announcement will be disappointing to more than just music fans, as Rockfest generates close to $1 million in economic spinoff for the City of Belleville and makes a big impact annually for some local charities.
Rashotte says plans are in the works already to bring the festival back in 2020 and keep it going for “many years to come”.
