A substantial donation from the Parrott Foundation to Belleville General Hospital means a $4 million expansion is set to begin.
Plans to expand the Intensive Care Unit at BGH are now currently underway thanks to a $500,000 donation.
The ICU currently allows the 14 patient care rooms to extend to 17 beds during a surge, but this funding will help support the construction of four additional rooms.
Construction is expected to begin this fall providing there is Ministry of Health approval.

Last year, patient visits at QHC hospitals increased by 13,000 compared to two years ago. Collectively, QHC hospitals treated over 315,000 patients last year, with over 109,500 emergency department visits, 154,000 diagnostic exams and over 24,000 surgeries.
