A Brighton accountant will not be able to re-apply for his Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario membership for another five years, after CPA Ontario found him guilty of professional misconduct.
Michael Nicholson had been charged with misappropriating more than $100,000 from two local non-profit organizations, including the Presqu’ile Park Lighthouse Preservation Society, between 2014 and 2018.
He pleaded guilty to fraud charges related to the lighthouse group in October of 2018.
His CPA Ontario membership was revoked in August of last year, in connection with an unrelated matter.
The CPA Ontario’s disciplinary committee has decided that Nicholson can’t reapply for his membership until February 25, 2024.
